2012 CoreCon Apocalypse Film Contest Details

For the first time ever we will be hosting an Short Film Contest at CoreCon 2012. Both amateur and experienced film creators and animators alike are welcome to participate with no entry cost. What type of apocalypse do you want to bring to CoreCon? Natural Disaster, Self Destruction, Extraterrestrial Attack, Plague, Supernatural Event, or perhaps you had something else in mind?

Prizes
1st Place - $150+ valued prize
2nd Place - $100+ valued prize
3rd Place - $50+ valued prize
Film Contest Rules
1. Max Length of 30 minutes. If you wish to make something longer, you can divide it into parts (30 minute maximum for each part). However, only the first part will be shown in the contest for time constraint reasons.
2. No Nudity or Extreme Violence (We need to be able to put your submission on YouTube)
3. Public showings at CoreCon and any material used by CoreCon may be censored for language.
4. Each Video will need a bumper for CoreCon added. (we will provide the bumper)
5. Video needs to be 100% original material unless you acquire rights directly from the owner of the materials or the materials are public domain. This includes but is not limited to music, movies, and images.
6. Participants must agree to the submission terms provided.
7. CoreCon reserves the right to disqualify videos for any given reason. We are willing to check scripts and rough drafts ahead of time to avoid last minute setbacks.
8. All Final Submissions must be received by April 15, 2012
9. The content of your movie must involve some aspect of an apocalyptic theme, regardless of nature.
Entry does not guarantee placement in the contest. However, each submission will be carefully considered.

If any hospitality suites wish to host a contest of any kind, it may be added to the CoreCon schedule. Simply inform us what the contest is, when you plan to hold it and what prizes you're offering for it and we'll add it to the schedule!

Hospitality Suite Contest: Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite hospitality suite throughout the convention, and the winning suite will receive a room for CoreCon 2013 free of charge! The second place prize is a free full-page ad in the 2013 CoreCon Program Guide.

Z'yendov Z'hall Tavern (Whurld's End) won first place in the Hospitality Suite Contest, and the Fairy Room took second place!

Costume Contest: Costume enthusiasts will be able to compete in a variety of genres and styles in the Costume Contest.

Walkabout Costume Contest: We will be running an itinerant costume contest as well, essentially this costume contest won't have a stage. Attendees may vote for their favorite costumes using forms they'll find in their registration packet and turn them in at Registration. There won't be categories, simply a first, second, and third place. Anyone and everyone can wear a costume!

The Ultimate Warrior: Warriors of all shapes and sizes will be able to compete for the title of Core Con's Ultimate Warrior! Whether you're decked out in spandex or armor, jumpsuit or post-apocalyptic leathers, you can join fellow warriors in this hilarious competition of wits and will!
