It is with a heavy heart CoreCon has made the decision to cancel our convention in 2020 as a direct result of the President of the United States declaring a national emergency with regards to COVID-19/Coronavirus. After long discussion, keeping in consideration everyone’s health and wellbeing we all feel the most responsible course of action to cancel in 2020 and start planning CoreCon 2021, to be held May 27-30, 2021.
Please understand this is not a decision we are taking lightly or in haste. We want to ensure the safety of our guests, vendors, fansuites, Inner Core and volunteers. Also keeping in mind, the current border crossing closing between the US and Canada, along with numerous individuals have decreased hours or being laid off.
If you are able please consider supporting the independent artists, vendors, and special guests who are losing income with this cancellation. We will try to highlight them on our social media over the coming weeks.
If you have already pre-registered or paid for vendor tables, your spot for next year is guaranteed and you need to do nothing. If you signed up for a fan suite your deposit will be refunded, and you can reapply next year. We do understand that it may be problematic making plans this far out or you may have other extenuating circumstances now that the convention is cancelled, so if you would like a refund, please email registration@FargoCoreCon.org
If you have reserved a hotel at the Holiday Inn under the CoreCon block, your reservations will be canceled and will receive notification once it has been finalized.

Q: Why cancel the Convention? Why not postpone?
While other events announced postponement rather than cancellation, at this time we’re not comfortable postponing because of the uncertainty around the duration of this pandemic. In addition, there are now multiple open-ended government orders around international travel and cancelling large gatherings, and that makes any postponement or possible rescheduling impossible.
Q: Is it possible for CoreCon to be rescheduled later this year?
CoreCon is a very complicated event with a small army of staff and volunteers. Ramping that up takes about 9 months each year, and it’s not really something we can press pause on for the next 2-3 months and easily resume. Our best estimate is that from the time quarantining measures are halted, we would not be able to host CoreCon 12 and then CoreCon 13 on May 27-30, 2021.
Q: I already registered for this year?
Consider yourself already registered for CoreCon May 27-30, 2021. If you would prefer to receive a refund, please contact email@example.com
Q: Is CoreCon going to be okay?
The best answer that we can give you at this time is that we think so. This will put a financial strain on the organization, but we’re hopeful and we’ve had some amazing support from fans and community.
Q: Will the Theme for CoreCon 2021 be The Great Age of Dragons?
Yes, we are going to pause the current convention planning and pick it up as we are able. We will be working with our guests and vendors and hope they will be able to join us for our future dates. We will post any changes as we know them in the future
Q: What can I do to support CoreCon?
CoreCon is made up of many moving parts, with many people working on the convention as well as guests, vendors, and fansuites. Right now, the best way you can support CoreCon is to support the local and regional vendors and artists that we work with. We’ll try to make it easy for you to find them on social media, and we’ll announce more plans soon. Follow us on twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
Q: What happens to our hotel reservations?
If you reserved the room at the Holiday Inn in the CoreCon block, the hotel is automatically canceling all reservations. Holiday Inn does NOT send out cancelation notifications. If you did not reserve a room within the CoreCon block, you will need to contact your booking agent or the hotel directly to cancel the reservation.
Q: I’m an artist/vendor. What happens to my table fees?
The table fee will be rolled over to next year. We are in the process of discussing ways to help promote those who were planning on coming and counting on the income from the vendor room.
Q: I was going to teach a geeky craft in Spark Station, will it be considered for 2021?
If you still want to do your thing, we would love for you to still craft your heart out with us in 2021.
